The first nano-fiber digital overlays were used to turn windows of airplanes and cars into data displays. Though eventually added to eye-glasses and sunglasses and ultimately to permanent contact lens systems, the interface still required a wired transceiver which was tattooed in metallic ink across and sometimes just under the skin and away from the eye. The next iteration of transceiver morphed into a sub-dermal microchip and is almost imperceptible.

Current versions are two-way, with micro-lenses that can record and broadcast.
