This is a super fast post tonight.  I’m in the middle of trying to crack the final story points on “A Night of Gatecrashing: Book Two” (I’m damn close).  But I had to share this.  It’s like Ashley Wood meets Steve Spielberg meets Ingmar Bergman.

Darknet Explorations

A few articles caught my attention this weekend. This one is pretty awesome What happens when a software bot goes on a darknet shopping spree? via TheGuardian.com

These and other questions are all explored in a new exhibition, The Darknet: From Memes to Onionland, at The Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, an hour east of Zürich, Switzerland.

A robot deployed on the dark web over the past few weeks has bought a pair of fake Diesel jeans, a baseball cap with a hidden camera, a stash can, a pair of Nike trainers, a decoy letter (used to see if your address is being monitored), 200 Chesterfield cigarettes, a set of fire-brigade issued master keys, a fake Louis Vuitton handbag, and 10 ecstasy pills.

I found my way to the Guardian story via io9.com – who used a still from Jake Schreier’s Robot and Frank to illustrate the story. Nice work Jake. 🙂 I’m using one here too.

There’s also a nice story on Forbes.com theorizing on similar subject matter:

A Robot Really Committed A Crime: Now What?

Cannon Busters

This looks awesome. Just found it over on Digriot.com.  It’s a very cool looking animated series by LeSean Thomas and he’s got a Kickstarter rolling to raise funds for an 8 – 10 minute animated short. Take a look.

Shipping Container Collection

containers

So, this article has certainly made the rounds, but you know, shipping containers hold a warm place in my heart. These customizations are awesome, all of them of course are built with drastically more resources than the citizens of Rivertown would have, but I’m sure there’s some ideas in here to build on.
